Amortela launches the form surface – light collections, references from Indian iconography is central to this body of work.
Chennai, 14th June 2018: Amortela launches the Formsurface – light collection to their fashionista’s customers. This collection will be available between June 16th to June 30th. Form surface – light is a part of Formsurface jewellery that explores traditional crafts and industrial applications under one parasol.
In Formsurface – light, there are two parts in the collection. One using ‘Electroforming’, a Chemical technology that encourages fair usage of material that creates light weight, intricate, easy to wear statement jewellery where each piece is handcrafted at the prototyping phase and achieved in 958 silver and electroplated in shards of gold and silver. The second part is created through silver sheet metal work handcrafted from start to finish using the idea of negative space to execute weightlessness.
Formsurface is characterised by the abstraction and deliberation of simple geometry coalesced with native references. Handcrafted in India, every piece is designed to augment the extent of forms and surface finishes. References from Indian iconography is central to this body of work. Bird and animal motifs are laced with clean lines and geometric forms bringing the two in unison. Forms and surfaces are fundamental to Poornima’s work and the two techniques have aided her explorations of disparate forms and surface finishes. As a jewellery designer her focus is on authenticity of materials and illustration of her ideas into wearable objects.
Amortela, meaning “for the love of fabric”, is a new age multi-designer concept store – the newest destination on the city’s fashion map. They bring to you modern silhouettes including both western and indo-western segments combined with the best of Indian fashion, inspired from handloom weaves and traditional techniques.
